Abstract

Analytic expressions of transfer function responses are utilized to explore the sufficient and necessary conditions on zero locations for an extrema-free step response. A very simple sufficient and necessary condition in the form of a lower and an upper bound on a single zero location is derived for an extrema-free step response for continuous-time systems with real poles.
