Staðlað greindarpróf fyrir fullorðna á Íslandi: WASIIS

WASIIS (Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence) er eina staðlaða greindarprófið fyrir fullorðna á Íslandi. Í WASIIS eru fjögur undirpróf: Rökþrautir, Orðskilningur, Litafletir, Líkingar. Mælitölur undirprófanna eru T-tölur á bilinu 20 til 80 (M = 50, sf = 10). Þrjár greindartölur eru reiknaðar í WASIIS út frá summu mælitalna undirprófa sem mynda þær. Meðaltal í dreifingu greindartalna er 100 og staðalfrávik 15. Stöðlunarúrtak WASIIS (N = 700) samsvarar vel þýði fullorðinna á Íslandi eftir búsetu, kyni, aldri og menntun. Gólfhrif eru ekki til staðar í íslenskum normum en rjáfurhrif eru smávægileg í þremur undirprófum (Rökþrautir, Litafletir, Líkingar). Áreiðanleiki undirprófa á sjö aldursbilum er í flestum tilvikum 0,80 eða hærri og 0,90 eða hærri fyrir greindartölur. Áreiðanleiki mismunar undirprófa er á bilinu 0,48 til 0,79. Áreiðanleiki mismunar greindarþáttanna er 0,81. Leitandi þáttagreining undirprófanna fjögurra á aldursbilunum sjö bendir til þess að undirprófin fjögur tilheyri tveimur þáttum, öðrum munnlegum en hinum verklegum. Þáttabygging WASI er eins hér á landi og erlendis. Marktækur munur er á greind fullorðinna Íslendinga eftir menntun þeirra. Niðurstöður þessarar rannsóknar benda til þess að vel hafi tekist til við þýðingu, staðfærslu og stöðlun WASI á Íslandi. Mælifræðilegir eiginleikar WASIIS eru fullnægjandi til að áætla greind fólks á aldrinum 17 til 64 ára í hagnýtu samhengi og rannsóknum á Íslandi.
The WASIIS (Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence – Icelandic Standardization) is the only standardized intelligence test for adults in Iceland. The WASI consists of four subtests: Matrix Reasoning, Vocabulary, Block Design and Similarities. Subtests’ total raw scores are converted to T-scores that range from 20 to 80 (M = 50, SD = 10). The subtests’ T-scores are used to calculate three WASI IQ scores. The distribution of IQ scores of the three WASI scales has a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. The WASI standardization sample in Iceland (N = 700) is highly representative of the adult population in the country by geographic region, gender, age and education. Floor effects are not present in the Icelandic norms and ceiling effects are small in three of the subtests (Matrix Reasoning, Block Design and Similarities). The reliability of the WASI subtests by seven age intervals is .80 or higher in most cases and .90 or higher for the IQ scales. The reliability of difference scores in the standardization sample as a whole range from .48 to .79 for the subtests and .81 for the verbal and performance IQ scales. Principal axis factor analyses of the four subtests by seven age intervals revealed two factors, a verbal and a performance factor, on each age interval. Thus, the WASI factor structure is the same in Iceland as in the USA. The results of this study indicate that the WASI was successfully translated, adapted and standardized in Iceland. The psychometric properties of the WASIIS are satisfactory and justify its use to estimate the intelligence of 17- to 64-year-old adults in applied settings and research in Iceland.
