Abstract

General issues relating to remote maintenance of complex equipment in the food processing industries are discussed. Specific food processing devices, their function and potential service situations are outlined. A generic architecture for remote maintenance, based on existing rather than new technology, is illustrated. The components and their functionality at a remote maintenance service center and the corresponding remote maintenance components at a remote site are presented.
