Description
This lecture explores how artificial intelligence (AI) is utilized to enhance and expedite the process of systematic academic literature reviews, specifically in the context of employing AI tools in research. The approach involves sourcing references from traditional academic databases alongside AI tools. Particular emphasis is placed on examining how AI tools can simplify the research process by accelerating data collection and streamlining reference analysis. The study utilizes traditional search engines such as Web of Science, Scopus, ProQuest, EBSCO, PubMed, DOAJ, CiteSeerx, Emerald Insight, ScienceDirect, and Springer Link. In addition, AI tools such as ChatGPT 4, Copilot, Scopus AI, Consensus, and Elicit are employed to identify relevant references. The process is meticulously documented, with reference management software like EndNote and Mendeley used for organization. The AI tool Rayyan is applied to eliminate duplicates and exclude irrelevant articles.
The findings reveal that AI tools significantly improve the research process by simplifying searches, facilitating data extraction, summarizing findings, and synthesizing methodologies in academic articles. The ability to use research questions directly, rather than relying on complex search strings, proves particularly convenient.
Future research should investigate the broader potential of AI tools, discussing their benefits and limitations, and exploring how they can be utilized to enhance both the speed and quality of academic literature reviews.
